After School Programs

Kidz Act’s after school drama program was developed by Kidz Act Founder Christine S. Heckman-Denning.  Our After-school program is a modification of our general curriculum.   If a school has a particular interest from our curriculum, i.e., improvisation, movement, Shakespeare etc., we are happy to tailor our program to meet those interests. Kidz Act presents each student with a Certificate of Achievement at the end of each session.  Kidz Act brings experienced and caring teaching artists into your school. Our goal is to help ensure that the theatre arts are an exciting and fulfilling part of the classroom experience, performance and life. Kidz Act mission is arts education through nurturing teamwork, creativity & ingenuity.  Our most popular program is the basic acting class:

Acting Class:

Kids will begin to learn the techniques that actors use on stage! They will use their bodies, voices and minds to create characters and work together to create new pieces. This is so much fun, they don't even know they are learning. Each workshop class includes hands-on study of performance techniques for both Improv and Theater. In addition to being a must for any wannabe star of the future, the life skills including communications, public speaking and presentation, creative thinking and writing and overcoming insecurities and stage fright are invaluable to everyone. Kids may also work with scripts as well as scenes from plays.

We try to stagger the start and end dates of our classes whenever possible in order for Ms. Christine, our founder, to be able to attend classes of each session, as well as make periodic visits to each school throughout the session to observe classes.

Kidz Act works with each school’s PTA/PTO to determine fee structure that respects your scheduling needs, population and budget.  The cost per child is based on the length of the individual sessions & program length. Generally we try to put together a 10 week program that is affordable to parents.   A limited number of full or partial scholarships may be available.

Partnering with Loudoun and Fairfax County Schools

In adherence with both Loudoun County & Fairfax County school regulations, Kidz Act has professional liability insurance and provides each school representative with proof of policy.  In addition, in adherence with school regulations, Kidz Act after school program instructors have had/will have Virginia State Criminal Background Checks and proof of clearance will be provided to PTA/PTO representative. Whenever possible, we appreciate having a parent liaison, and depending on the school’s wishes, a parent representative onsite. PTA representative provides Kidz Act with basic contact information for students/families (phones/emails) so that we can email scripts or notices to absent students without having to trouble our coordinator and in order to keep things flowing as efficiently as possible.
